Review: "My Lv999 Love for Yamada-kun"
I saw a lot of screencaps from a shojo fanacc that has made way into my algorithm, and I went "well, why not? we're here anyway."
Where do I even begin? I like it, yeah, but there are some details that irk me a lot lol
I'll be brief with the red flag section.
There's one dark skin character that has the nickname monkey.
The ML starts dating the FL while he's in HS. Probably implied he's 18, but yeah.
It's evident the author knows it's wrong because becomes a running joke later.
There's a weird vibe surrounding a character (male) whose avatar is a girl. Not him being portrayed as pervert, but they do make some weird jokes about it.
Now, what I liked about it:
I like the diversity of the characters.
It's evident this really knows how to express the casual talk about gaming.
Leaving the main couple aside, I love the vibe of some characters.
The artstyle is really pretty, and I enjoy shojo mostly because it's centered on women and their struggles.
Overall resolution:
It didn't make me squeal and go crazy like other shojo. Most of the time I felt awkward about it. The very first half of the manga until the couple becomes canon is this woman literally coming to visit her boyfriend at school, which is... not fun lol.
It's evident that the ML and FL are at different stages of life and it shows. Mostly because you can see the FL being like "I have no topic of conversation with my boyfriend on his last year of highschool!".
Do I recommend it? If you don't care much about what concenrs me, then go ahead. It's a pretty artstyle at least!
