Archive created to record the progress in the Genya cosplay I'm working on!

First prop: Genya's shorty

I was unmotivated to start with the cosplay at first. I knew I had to do everything with the materials I had in hand, that is - cardboard and a lot of hot glue.

Genya's shotgun is the most detailed part of the cosplay. For a hot while, I thought of buying it from a 3d printer maker, but it was just far out my budget... which was low already.

So, as curious as I am, I went, "hell, why don't I just google it? I could freehand it!". And I found a link from a youtube cosmaker who shared the papercraft link for free. I was shocked, I never thought it would be this easy to find! Granted, I went right for it.

So it begins. I was lucky I got this sprout of motivation on the last weeks of class. I bought the materials I needed (paint and hot glue) and stole a shoebox. Then, I sat on the floor to glue every piece from the pattern into the cardboard.

It was an excruciating process. For me, who has a history of back pain and a knee injury, sitting on the floor to do this was no fun. Still, I managed, and once I finished cutting all the pieces, I moved to my desk to keep going with the task.

The issue with me, though, was that I wanted to finish this as soon as possible. Probably just to prove myself I could do it. Besides, I had classes in some days, and exams were nearby. So I had to hurry, or I'd drop the project, probably.

So I finished the unpainted version that night.

Next morning, I was ready for more. After taking a well deserved break, I started painting right away. Unfortunately, I hyperfixated too hard on the task, so I didn't take any picture on the matter. However, I have pictures of the finished product!

I was overjoyed with the results. I finished it in two days, sure. But it was a lot of time to work on. It was my first ever prop, and I feel really happy it turned out well. I have yet to fix the shade of brown used, and fix some details, too. But that will come eventually.

Next part will be linked below once I post it!
